We had a great experience with Ashmita Trek & Tours. Everything from booking the trek with Subash who provided gear in case of rain (which it did) to Tensing Tamang, our guide who was really helpful & knowledgeable, was fantastic. We were plied with ample meals, snacks and of course tea! Even the poor weather which we experienced didn't dampen our day.

“Cycle Hiking !!”
I and Subash(Ashmita Trek Owner) went for cycle hiking to nearby places in Darjeeling few days earlier. It was an amazing experience altogether and a must do activity for an adventure loving person. Subash is an amazing person and he dedicated his entire day to give me an enthralling experience. Thank you Subash :D

“Amazing Trip and Guide, - Always Choose Ashmita in Darjeeling”
Subash organized a day trek for 9 of us up to Tonglu point to see Kanchenjunga and Mt. Everest. Subash and the other guides could not have been more friendly and engaging. On the trek, we not only had an incredible sense of adventure, but we learned a lot about the culture, food, and mountain customs in Darjeeling and nearby areas of Nepal. We could not have been more satisfied with the quality of the trek. After seeing the amazing sights, Subash recommended delicious restaurants and showed us some of the best tea in Darjeeling. Ashmita Trek and Tours even provided us with easy transportation to and from Bagdogra airport and recommendations for future treks in the Nepali side of the Himalayas. I will definitely be in contact with Ashmita next time I am in this area of the world.

A friend and I visited Darjeeling at the end of August/beginning ofSeptember. We knew it was the rainy season, but that did not stop us from doing a wonderful trek with Subash. We started our trek with a 30+K bike ride, and then a 10K trek into Nepal. The sights were beautiful, even with the rain. Subash was an excellent guide, and corresponded well to our needs. I recommend this trek to anyone who is adventurous and looking for a beautiful experience. I hope to come back one day to take a longer trek with him!
Highly Recommended! Best Part of my Trip
In early September 2015, I was in Darjeeling for a 4-day vacation. We wanted to find the right guide and trek to give us a unique experience in the area, with only one day to spare. Ashmita was the right choice. Subash was professional and responsive from the first email inquiry.
We chose the one day trek through Tonglu. The entire experience was incredible. Meals in small villages along the way, our guide was very informative, and the hike was accurately described by Subash, so I knew what I was getting into.
I hope to return to trek with Ashmita again in the near future. I highly recommend them if you are anywhere nearby. It was the best experience of my trip

Recently did a day hike with Subash up to Tonglu. The hike was exactly what we were looking for in a Darjeeling-area day trek -- great views, varied terrain, unique cultural experience walking through the villages along the India-Nepal border. And Subash was a great and friendly guide. When done with the hike we had a great sense of accomplishment and having had a very unique experience. Thanks Subash! If ever in the area again, will definitely do another trek with Subash -- hopefully a longer one! The Sikkim treks he described sounded fantastic. Highly recommend trekking with Subash's company for both experienced and inexperienced trekkers.

Mix of active life and culture
Subash helps you to organize a varied and fun trip so you can enjoy the Himalaya even if you don't have many days for your visit.
We did a very simple tour with cycling and hiking, people with no previous experience could easily do the same tour as we did.
Besides from the active parts Subash also took us to a museeum, a buddist temple while a ceremony was going on, got us to taste local beer in a cottage in Nepal (with an open fire sparkeling in the background)

Short trekking tour
Even with the adverse weather conditions because of the rainy season, they made it possible for us to experience an unforgettable hiking tour between Nepal and India!

Beautiful Day Hike With Exposure to Local Culture
We were very satisfied with our Day Hike (one day trek). Subash took us up and around the Himalayan foothills at the border of India and Nepal. May isn't the time of year to see Everest, but it didn't matter because the foothills were gorgeous in and of themselves. The most fascinating parts were our stops in the mountain villages, where the local residents (with whom Subash has established relationships) prepared tea and food for us (which were included in the original price). It was a very enjoyable exposure to the local culture. Subash is a wonderful, kind owner and tour guide.

Fantastic Day Trek!
We were lucky enough to enjoy a one day trek to Tonglu - Tumling with Subash (owner of Ashmita) as our guide (3 of us in the group). We were picked up from our hotel at 5:30am and after a 90 minute drive, we enjoyed a traditional Nepali breakfast in a small village. The hike itself was fantastic. After a fairly strenuous uphill climb, we walked through varying scenery both in India and Nepal. We weren't able to see any of the Himalaya due to a lot of fog, but the hike was very atmospheric and lunch at the guesthouse was fantastic. Subash was extremely knowledgeable, well spoken, and gave us a great understanding of the area as well as Darjeeling itself. He went out of his way to ensure that we were enjoying ourselves and we were able to interact with many of the local families as well. He works to keep the trails clean and it's quite apparent that he loves what he does. Highly recommended!!

Great trek with some unexpected extremes
Both Subash, the owner of the agency, as well as Pemba, our guide, were extremely nice and friendly people.
All in all our trek was great even though it was a bit more extreme than expected. I guess we had very bad luck with the weather as when we woke up in Sandakphu we got to see 15cm of snow instead of a breathtaking view of the Himalaya. Subsequently the descent was very challenging and also quite dangerous as it got very slippery. I would have hoped they told us before how extreme the conditions can get and on this day I felt safety was taken a bit lightly.
However, Pemba managed the situation very well by changing the itinerary and he made sure we could try all our things in the next lodge.
The lodges were pretty good with really delicious food but don't expect luxury.
I would definitely recommend them for trekking and I can especially recommend Pemba as a guide as he did everything possible to assure that we had a great time.

Great guide, safe drivers, amazing scenery with aspect if history and a view if Everest with spectacular views of K1
We trecked to tonglu tumling a party if 10. Our guide was very friendly and thoughtful bringing energy supplies as we walked if chocolate and juice. We trecked after taking a lovely breakfast, and saw spectacular views of K1 and the 3 sisters in our way to Tonglu. Here we were able to catch a brief photo of Everest and then walked to a village tomling with a population if 15 people, we had a lovely lunch of organic products from the garden and sat and chatted before we set off to complete our 19km trek, we stopped in small tea places randomly located in the hills of the Himalayas and even bought some Yaks cheese. Amazing day, will never forget it.

Magical day trek in Darjeeling - Tumling
We had a fantastic day trek in Darjeeling with Subash and his team. He was an excellent guide - accommodating, warm, knowledgeable and trustworthy. In just a day, our party of nine (mixed age and ability) departed from Darjeeling on a 20km trek- sampled great food and hospitality (yak's cheese, village momos, local beer made from millet, the best tea and fresh local unpasteurised milk) and spent time in Nepal, which was very special. He has excellent links with local people and supports their economy and conservation through his trek, and has drivers who know the roads inside out. His passion shone through and really enhanced our experience. It's just a shame we only had one day! Highly recommended.

Trekking with Ashmita Trek and Tours
Thank you to Subash at Ashmita Trek and Tours!
We spent four days in Darjeeling and found Subash's details via Trip Advisor.
Our original request was for assistance to organise a day trekking, not only did we have a great day trekking with Binod our guide aided by the lovely weather and local hospitaliity, but Subash also organised our Toy Train Tickets for us and a further Culture Day with our guide Dawa. Superb personal service, great guides and I am sure we will stay in touch, would recommend highly.

Fantastic day hiking experience !
We had a fantastic time trekking with Pemba. We visited a Buddhist monastry, stayed in Nepal overnight and viewed mount Everest at sunrise. The scenary was really variable, and very beautiful. We ate very well, trying local food and eating in small restaurants in villages we would never have discovered ourselves. I would highly recommend Ashmita Trek and Tours if you are considering trekking. Thank you!
Subash is an extremely genuine and personable guide. The views on our trek were stunning, but what made the trip for me was getting to know Subash and his guide along the way. They're extremely knowledgeable and definitely give you the most value for your money.
