A friend and I visited Darjeeling at the end of August/beginning of September. We knew it was the rainy season, but that did not stop us from doing a wonderful trek with Subash. Recently did a day hike with Subash up to Tonglu. The hike was exactly what we were looking for in a Darjeeling-area day trek -- great views, varied terrain, unique cultural experience walking through the villages along the India-Nepal border. Despite the rain and cloud we had a great day's hike with Subash. The area is stunning we can only imagine what it is like when the clouds clear! We learnt a lot from Subash about area and the people of the region. His English is excellent and above all he was a lot of fun, he made us laugh a lot! Subash offered a perfect mixture of activity and culture. Mountain biking and trekking at a level suited to the group, with amazing views, even though the weather wasn't perfectly clear. Seeing a Buddhist monestry was a highlight too - absolutely breathtaking! I would definitely recommend this, and would come back a second time! :) continue reading
