For the most authentic cultural experience in northeast India, take our Homestay Trek in Darjeeling (Village to Village). Live the life of local villagers and gain knowledge about their lifestyle, while enjoying the pristine beauty of the rolling green hills and massive mountain peaks.
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the village lifestyle. Time moves slower, and there is no rush to be anywhere. The anxieties and worries that you carry with you will disappear each day on the trail. Realize that the trivial problems of everyday life are quite small in the grand scheme of your lifetime. You will become present on the trail and feel a sense of inner peace. By the end of the Homestay Trek in Darjeeling (Village to Village), you might just want to stay!
Before the homestay trek begins, we have a full day of cultural exploration in Darjeeling. There is so much to see in Darjeeling, that one day simply is not enough, but we see as much as we can. Check out the Toy Train, an UNESCO World Heritage site. Also, one cannot leave Darjeeling without tasting its famous tea from one of the many tea plantations. After sipping an energizing cup of tea, it’s time to check out some of the elaborate monasteries and temples in the city.
The following day, we leave for the trek. Traverse through hills and forests, staying in village upon village. Each night you will stay in a rural accommodation. The facilities are simple, yet comfortable and home-like. Eat the local cuisine, which is often more hygienic and organic than food in the cities. Learn how to make some of the foods in the process! Experience the peaceful environment and lovely Nepalese and Sikkamese hospitality. Learn about their history, culture, customs, food, and festivals while staying with them. In fact, if you would like to schedule your trek during one of the exciting festivals, we can arrange for that! Just let us know. You can read books about these local ethnic groups, but to actually live with them is a much more authentic experience. The connections you make will last a lifetime!
Few treks connect you this well with the local people, facilitating a learning experience between both groups. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience. The snapshots of the natural landscapes and wildlife will be remembered, but it is the genuine moments that you share with the Sherpa, Rai, Tamang, Dukpa people that are most cherished.
It is possible to do the Homestay Trek in Darjeeling (Village to Village) throughout the year. The best times, though, are spring (March to May) and fall (September to November). In the springtime, the colorful flowers are blooming. During the fall, the skies are usually clearer. Gorkhey is an elegant valley situated in the border and there we find an eco village. The valley is surrounded by a thick pine forest and a small river known as Gorkhey in between Sikkim and West Bengal which separates these two states. The people here mostly depend on agriculture and some of the villagers run homestays. Ovenight stay at a local homestay.

We did a trek of different villages in the shadow of Sandakphu in the Singalila Forest - a 4 night, 5 day journey starting in Mane Bhanjang and ending in the forests near Rammam. Our guide, Pemba, was a gracious host and always willing to answer our questions. Highlights of the trek included learning how to cook momos, and especially the parts of the trek that were deep in the forest, away from people. From start to finish Ashmita Trek and Tours delivered, and delivered well.

My friend and me went on a four and a half day Village trekking tour with Ashmita Trek Darjeeling and it was really the experience and trip we hoped for! Our guide Tshering and the organizer Subash the Owner made this trip really easy going for us, by providing excellent information about the area, organizing comfortable guest houses and pik-up services and really caring about our satisfaction.
I recommend Ashmita Trek and Tours to everyone seeking an uncomplicated and good service when trekking in Darjeeling or Sikkim.

Our small family group stayed in Darjeeling for sightseeing and visiting nearby locations significant to our past family history in the area.the proprietor Subash was amazing. He arranged everything we needed, and met with us frequently to ensure that the customised activities and day trips went perfectly. All of the drivers and vehicles he arranged were excellent. There was a severe storm on our first night in Darjeeling which severely disrupted power supplies and communications, but Subash ensured that our stay was perfect despite these obstacles. We highly recommend Ashmita Trek and Tours.

We did the Sandakphu trail and loved it. Our guide was great and everything was planned out. The homestays we stayed at were wonderful people and the accommodations were very clean. Definitely a cultural experience. I want to use this tour company again in the future.
They are also very accommodating. We had planned for a five day trek but the day before my friend had an allergic reaction and Subash worked out a 3 day trail we could do and still make it to the top!

ime was limited in Darjeeling, but Subash and his staff were able to put together a bespoke itinerary that met all of our requirements. The trek itself was amazing, as was the level of attention to detail that Pemba and his colleagues displayed at all times on the trek.A couple of trekkers that we met along the way who were using alternative companies actually commented to us how knowledgeable and helpful Pemba was in comparison to their own guides. The surprises and extra touches became a consistent feature of our stay in Darjeeling and were much appreciated

Ashmita recently organised a trek for us from Darjeeling home stay village to Village Trek . We found Subash and his wife very professional in responding to questions and managing the arrangements by email; they gave us plenty of prior information to help us plan for the trip itself; laid on an excellent guide on the ground; booked very good accommodation en route; and provided safe drivers to get us to and from the trekking start and finishing points. Overall they made our trek a great success and we cannot recommend them too highly. We shall certainly use them again when planning our next trek - when the flowers are in bloom!

We were fortunate enough to meet up with Subash the owner of com[any at our Hotel , on our second day in Darjeeling, and enquired about how to go about arranging a trek into the local "near Singalila National Park" home stay trek in darjeeling . He was able to advise us about all our concerns, from what clothes to wear to the severity of the slopes on the hills, and in due course arranged our itinerary; transport, lodgings, and most importantly our excellent Guide "Binod". I have done a bit of trekking over the years, and the experience of trekking through the beautiful village Singalila Park was second to none, and , all in all I would describe the organisation of this trek, via Ashmita Trek and Tours as 'seamless'.
